Our stories matter
As we get older, we begin to see our lives not just as a series of events, but as a whole. Our lives carry decades of experience: joy, tradition, adventure, loss, humor, lessons learned. Yet too often, we do not have the time, structure or space to put those stories on the page.
I create that space, offering guided, welcoming workshops where seniors can begin telling their stories at their own pace. Through workshops, classes and story-based projects, I help people reflect on key moments in their lives with clarity.
In recent years I have helped older adults create:
- Family histories tracing the stories of parents and grandparents.
- Memoirs and essay collections exploring key moments, relationships and life decisions.
- Collections of life lessons for children, grandchildren and others.
The process
Whether we’re working together in a group or one-on-one, the process is always structured, supportive, and clear. It includes:
- Thoughtful prompts to jumpstart the writing process.
- Clear guidance on how to turn memories into stories.
- Advice on story structure, theme, tone and pacing.
- Time to write, reflect, and revise.
For some writers, this work leads to a collection of stories, a memoir, or a family keepsake. For others, it’s about the process itself—the joy of discovery and remembering.
An invitation
If you are a senior who has ever thought:
- “I want my family to know my story.”
- “I’m ready to look back and make sense of it all.”
- “I’d like to compile a book of family recipes for my children and grandchildren.”
You are in the right place.
And if you are a family member looking to help preserve a loved one’s stories, this work can be a meaningful gift for generations to come.
